🗳️ The Governing Board election season has officially started!
We announced it last week in a very detailed blog post summarising everything you need to know, and kicked off the nomination period on Saturday. You can find all the details about the nomination process here, but in short each member of a constituency group can nominate themselves, a representative or someone else to be a candidate for the election. Nominees will be announced on the 16th May and displayed on the election page.
📅 This year’s schedule is as follow:
âś… Announcement on Monday 27th April
➡️ Nominations from Saturday 2nd May to Friday 15th May
◻️ Campaigning from Saturday 16th May to Friday 29th May
◻️ Voting from Saturday 30th May to Friday 12th June
◻️ Results announced on Monday 15th June
📢 The election is running for the following constituency groups:
Platinum Members – 1 seat (in cycle)
Ecosystem Members – 3 seats (in cycle)
Spec Core Team – 2 seats (in cycle)
Guardians – 3 seats (in cycle)
Silver Members – 2 seats (out of cycle, GB members stepped down)
Individual Members – 1 seat (out of cycle, GB member stepped down)
Associate Members – 1 seat (out of cycle, seat left empty during the last elections)
Gold Members – if new Gold member(s) sign up before the 15th May
So if you are a member of one of these groups have a think about whether you can support the Foundation and don’t hesitate to put your name in the ballot!
Hello folks, it's time for another board report! Another 6 months have passed (well, slightly less to align better with the elections), and the Board came together last week to go over the Committee reports and discuss urgent topics. You can find the details, and my conclusions, in the blog post, and of course we welcome feedback, questions, etc which you can direct to #governing-board-office:matrix.org
For those new to the Board's activities, you can find out more about our structure, Committees, and Working Groups on the Matrix website - and as always I'll take any chance to remind the community that new Working Group proposals are always welcome, just get in touch

It was an open secret, but it's finally out in the open: we will gather for The Matrix Conference 2026 between 20th and 23rd October in Malmö, Sweden!
We are excited to announce that The Matrix Conference 2026 will be held in Malmö, Sweden from 20th to 22nd October, 2026, and a Post-Conf Hackathon on 23rd October. Save the date!
After successful editions in Berlin and Strasbourg, we are bringing The Matrix Conference back with the same spirit: over 300 private enthusiasts, hackers, community admins, public and private sector professionals, vendors, integrators, and political representatives gathering to exchange knowledge, share developments, and shape the future of Matrix together.
The programme spans four days:
October 20 (afternoon): A networking event to get everyone together before the main programme kicks off, with thematic tables and facilitators to get the conversation started
October 21 and 22: Two full days of talks, workshops, demos, and discussions
October 23: A hackathon for those who want to keep building together after the conference
As always, the talks will be streamed live and recordings will be available after the event, so you can follow along even if you cannot make it to Malmö in person.

Today we have announced The Matrix.org Foundation's first trademark policy. You can see all details in the announcement blog post and the policy itself. We have also improved the branding guidelines area of the website and have plans to continue building it out.
Huge thanks to the Website & Content Working Group for their support getting us here! Any questions/suggestions please head over to #matrix-legal:matrix.org or email us.
What a year again at FOSDEM! The community met at our Hackathon on Friday and worked on fancy ideas. We talked to thousands of people at our booth, and hosted the Decentralised Communication Devroom on Sunday. But Matrix was truly everywhere at FOSDEM.
